09 April, 2018 | With the shared vision of a new digital strategy, SLA and Henneken have developed a complete Industry 4.0 solution, which, in addition to networking, also involves the efficient monitoring of integrated machines that sustainably improve work processes.
Network production and logistics efficiently, integrating, controlling and monitoring production machines. The unique networking of shop floor and top floor creates a lasting basis for the successful use of corporate information and its conversion into valuable knowledge.
For SLA Software Logistik Artland GmbH, which develops intelligent and individually tailored technologies, this is no longer wishful thinking. Together with Ferdinand Henneken GmbH, the world market leader in tumbler technology, SLA has taken up the challenges of digitisation and developed an overall industry 4.0 solution that enables food producers to benefit from more efficient workflows. An important factor in the solution, apart from the networking of the entire shop floor, is the monitoring of integrated machine data. The so-called “Device Monitor” provides an overview of all integrated components, be it injectors, tumblers, paint mixers or other machines and their respective occupancy. During the operation of a machine and beyond, production parameters can be monitored and visualized on any end devices. Using the tumbler as an example, weight, temperature, vacuum, revolutions and working phases can be visualized. Process data is linked in real time with the existing batch data in quality management so that the traceability of food is guaranteed. Under the heading of food safety, efficient monitoring is becoming increasingly important, because risks are recognised and minimised at an early stage. Companies also use data analyses as a basis for making decisions for greater efficiency gains.
All recorded production and machine data is stored web-based and anonymized in a Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), which makes the data, including consumption and statistical data, available to the machine manufacturer. The manufacturer’s access to certain machine data enables predictive and efficient planning of maintenance operations. Interest in cloud services has grown remarkably in recent years and the initial mistrust seems to have been largely overcome. A virtual private cloud has the advantage that a company’s data remains isolated and can be controlled centrally. In addition, the company can determine which users are allowed to access the cloud resources. „These are important factors when it comes to data protection, because a VPC ensures greater stability in data security, which should always come first“, says Managing Director Jörg Brezl. Making data web-based and accessible across the enterprise makes it easier for customers, partners and suppliers to collaborate. The necessary software updates are carried out on all machines automatically and without any additional effort and even programs can be maintained centrally and imported to any machine of any location. Such solutions enrich industrial production and create integrated, automated processes in production, logistics and beyond.
