10 July, 2018 | Digital change is in full swing and presents the meat industry with ever-increasing challenges in the restructuring of deadlocked work processes. Not least in the context of their competitiveness, many producers are therefore considering their opportunities regarding Digitalization and automation of their processes and the associated disruption. This raises questions about worldwide, web-based networking and complete transparency across the entire value chain. Among other things, smart apps help to support the path into the digital world.
The government has also recognized the opportunities of digitization for companies in Germany and is actively engaged in programs to establish the “Smart Factory”. This also means that the meat industry should “digitally rethink” its previous work processes. The aims of the Smart Factories are to accelerate production processes, improve product transparency and quality, and improve consumer orientation in food production. However, the growing digitalization also leads to new challenges in companies. The highest priority is to securely capture and manage production and business data. Intensifying their IT security is therefore also playing an increasingly important role for producers. Manufacturers must also keep pace with digitalization in their collaboration with their customers and upgrade their sales area accordingly. On the one hand to satisfy the extensive information needs of customers and on the other hand to record the data volume without loss. The SLA, Software Logistik Artland GmbH, deals with the digital possibilities in the food industry from a software-based perspective and, in addition to industry 4.0 overall solutions, also develops customer-specific apps that make it possible to achieve the required digital standard with just a few clicks. The developed apps, which are used in very different areas of the value-added chain and can be individually configured according to customer requirements, can be integrated directly into the ERP software and thus ensure an intelligent linking of all recorded data across several levels. Mobile Apps from SLA meet all the requirements of a Smart Factory in just one solution. The SLA Sales App, for example, which is used in the field sales force and has already proven itself in everyday use by many customers, supports sales staff in providing optimum advice and product presentation on site. Images, product details, recipe suggestions, seasonal campaigns and allergen identification cards, which can be called up on the tablet at lightning speed and in real time, quickly satisfy the customer’s thirst for information. Master data, price lists, current sales figures and all statistics can be called up from any location at any time. In just a few clicks, orders are recorded and transmitted directly and encrypted to the ERP system. Due to the digital acquisition, later transmission errors are excluded. New data such as updated visit plans can also be received from there in real time. Of course, the entire travel entire travel expense is also fully integrated.
Smart apps ensure an optimal overview, efficient workflows and satisfied customers, depending on the area of application in the company, be it in the recording of production performance, in logistics for monitoring current stocks or for retrieving picking and shipping progress. Many companies already rely on linking mobile solutions with production to control the entire process. For example, goods can be controlled fully automatically from the warehouse to production via an app. In addition, machine and production data are graphically visualized on the tablet via live monitoring and transmitted to a Cloud via the web.
